Thirty ♥ Six

Happy birthday to me!

If you have been around for awhile, you know I am big on birthdays. Especially my own. Birthdays are just so fun because they are yours. Sure, you might share your actual day of birth with someone, but you are unique in your own stardust. Your birthday is a day to celebrate you! The other holidays are about to celebrating other things and other people. I find birthdays to be a great time to think about your life and what you want. The New Year is great, but it can sometimes feel impersonal and daunting. If you do your goal settings and check-ins on your birthday, it can feel a lot more exciting (at least for me).

I like to sometimes ask my friends what their biggest takeaway was from their year. The biggest realization. For me, I think it has to be "love boldly". Your friends, partners, family. Whoever is in your life that you care about deeply. Tell them. Show them. Utilize your love languages and theirs. Be cringe. Hold hands. Hug. Scream when you see each other. Kiss on the sidewalk. Take photos. Talk about everything and nothing. It's really easy to get caught up in the "oh they know" thinking. But they don't know. Not always. And just because they do know doesn't mean you shouldn't show it in some big or small way anyway. This is something I'm always thinking about and working on, but for some reason I really just tried harder and/or had my cup filled more and was able to share that love. A lot of my goals are going to be focused around showing the people I love that they are loved. And showing the same love to myself.

Buy yourself the cake, the balloons, and the flowers for your birthday or whatever the equivalent of those things are for you (brownies and ice cream maybe). Celebrate you by treating yourself, but also remember to take a look back at how far you have come and where you want to be going. And find the people who want to celebrate you too.

Just a little tidbit, if you're looking to spend less money (I know I am), this cake is from Kroger and was only $23. It may not be as elaborate as some of my previous cakes, but it tasted great and was still adorable! And not over $80. Your girl is on a budget.
