I am not going to call this my "I'm back!" blog because it's not. Honestly, it's just the easiest way for me to get back into writing here again. I promise I'll post something that is a more fulfilling explanation of why I've been away for so long and what I have been doing. For now though, enjoy these outfits.
The items I'm wearing this week (mostly) are pieces that I have had tucked away in a bag in my car. I've been wanting to take them to the alterations place for MONTHS (some even - gasp - years). The place I take my clothes to for alterations is very much out of my way, but I love the work and the price seems fair. One day, I decided to bring the bag in to retry on each piece to see if I still thought it needed altering. Well, lo and behold, they don't. I ended up throwing one item in the donate pile, but everything else is actually pretty great.
Most of the pieces I had in the bag because they were "too long". This is something I've been working on for awhile now. I would shy away from midi and maxi lengths because I thought they made me look shorter. Guess what. They don't! And even if they do... I'm really trying to wear things because I like them and not because they are flattering. It's difficult, but I'm working on it. I'll explain under each piece why I had it in the alteration bag, but I had a lot of fun with this!
P.S. You can find links to these pieces (or similar) on my LTK page! Yes, I was finally accepted and I'm so happy to share this with you all! Follow me on LTK here.
This dress I thought was too long. It's actually pretty perfect and looks so good - I can't believe I missed out wearing this all summer. Get the look here.
I bought this skirt late spring/early summer and found it to be way too long. I still think it's too long after wearing it. I'm going to wait until next spring to alter it and see how I feel. It is rather whimsical at this length. Get the look here.
Last fall I bought this set and loved it, but the skirt was so big in the waist. I wore it for a video once, but then threw it in the alterations bag. After trying it on, it fits pretty perfectly. I have mixed feelings about this. On the plus side, it's nice to not have to pay to alter something. Get the look here.
Not from the alterations bag, but I am trying to be more creative with my looks. I love wearing a sweater over a dress, but I like a cropped look. The best hack is wearing a belt and tucking the sweater into the belt! Get the look here.
This skirt. I was so excited to add to my satin skirt collection (I ordered the black one too). I have been having a hard time styling this one. I don't really think my top collection is as thought out as my dress and skirt collections are, but I also realized I have a harder time with lighter colored bottoms. I'm really going to be working on that this fall! Get the look here.
