75 Hard: Style Challenge

I am currently trying to shop my closet and not the internet. I have plenty of pieces in my wardrobe (that I adore) and quite frankly need to break my shopping habits. As I tend to not spend a ton on each piece, it is easy for me to justify shopping. It's just a little here and there, but that can and, quite frankly, does add up to a lot. This time of year is difficult already for pulling outfits together, so I am hoping to spark a little more creativity and wear pieces in ways I hadn't thought before.

You've heard of 75 Hard. The workout "lifestyle transformation". That particular program never appealed to me, but when I heard about the 75 Hard Style Challenge, that was more my speed. I heard about it through Jess, but Mandy Lee started the challenge. The gist of the challenge is you get dressed every day for 75 days and document each outfit. You also do not add more pieces to your wardrobe during this time. The point is to get you thinking more creatively about your current wardrobe, finding your style, finding holes, and cleaning and organizing along the way.

I am, loosely, following this plan. While I haven't added to my wardrobe in awhile and don't plan on purchasing anything, I'm not going to limit myself too much if something crosses my path that would add significantly to what I already own. I am also not going to be doing this for 75 days. I'm really just looking to get through winter without hating everything I own. I don't want to commit fully into this because I find challenges like this can put pressure on you for literally no reason. Confining myself makes me want to break out more. While loosely following, I'm more likely to stick with it and not feel like the walls are closing in on me. I find structure comforting up to a certain point (but that feels like a different blog altogether).

One of the purposes of doin this challenge is to find your style and see what you reach for the most. I can definitely see a trend in these first couple weeks: neutrals, collars, textures, plaid. It feels a bit dark academia, but also not? Like any experiment, results take time and only a few weeks is difficult to draw any conclusions from. I am enjoying looking at my outfits all together in an album. It's easier to see what I reach for the most and how they all look similar and are different from each other all at once.

If you're doing this challenge or want to pick up the torch - good luck! Have fun and try new things with old pieces.
