I am always so impressed with the construction of Winterlights. The details are immaculate. Look at those branches covered in lights! One of my biggest peeves about stringing lights is people only do the base of the trees and never the branches. Or they don't do enough branches. To be fair, I've never tried stringing a tree, but at least wrap them around the top a bit? Anyway, each year gets a little better than the last. There were a few new spots added and I really appreciate the area where you can stop to make a s'more, grab another warm drink, and stand by a fire.
We took our time a little more this year. Each group starts on the hour (ours was 8 PM). Instead of grabbing a drink and heading out, we did grab a drink and waited a bit to chat and sip before heading out. Normally I feel very crowded, especially at the beginning, but this was the least amount of people I've been around (most noticeable with the lack of line into the Lily House). I think waiting that little bit made it thin out for us which led us to be able to take more photos without people in them and linger longer at favorite installations. I highly recommend. It probably helped with it being so cold - take the chance.
If you're in Indy during the holiday season, I cannot recommend this experience enough! Grab a few people (or wander on your own), don't forget your hats, scarves, and gloves, and have a jolly good time.
