I have made it a personal goal to take more photos at parties and events. I had gotten really bad at taking photos at gatherings (living in the fun!), but I miss not having those photos to look back on. I want more faces than mine saved to my phone! I want the world to know that I was here and I did a thing! It's more than just capturing a photo of my outfit, it's capturing my loved ones and activities.
I teeter back and forth on if I've improved. I feel like I've gotten back into the habit of snapping candids and taking group photos, but sometimes it's just me doing it. Sometimes I get tired of handing my phone or camera off to someone else and saying, "can you take our photo, please?" I want someone else to take the photos and videos. I want to be the candid one sometimes too. I am blessed to have so many friends who absolutely do this. It's just usually me. I take this role very seriously, but it can get a little lonely too.
If you're the photographer of your family or friend group, here's to you. You're a super star and it can sometimes be a thankless job. You're doing the work and it's amazing. It is absolutely worth it. To everyone else, if you notice that one person who is always the photographer being the photographer, pick up the camera and give them a break some times. They want to be in the photos too. And if your friends and family are trying to takes photos, smile and be in them. You'll want them later. And honestly? The faster everyone cooperates, the sooner it ends.
All that has nothing to do with these photographs. It just popped into my mind as I was organizing the photos.
Arianna's Holiday Hang was an absolute blast and I'm glad to have these memories saved.
