The Apothecary: An Update

Home sweet Apothecary.

I have been thinking about my apartment a lot recently because I'm going on my third year in this space. While the price and area leave a lot to be desired, I do love it. I know I will probably be moving on from it next year, so I'm just taking it all in.

I've done a lot since we were last here! The main difference you may see is the living area. A little back story: I rented a garage in the building I am in and this summer I got rid of it. I now have a small (10x5) storage unit. There were a lot of items in the garage that I had taken from my previous life not really knowing what or if I would do anything with it. I had also purchased a couch set that did not fit through the door. While I absolutely adored the set, I sold it. I also sold the beautiful green loveseat. In its stead, I bought this beautiful pink couch. I was hunting for a larger green one, but absolutely fell in love with this. I have a full size couch, y'all!

I finally, finally put up my gallery wall in the living room. Everything had just been sitting on the shelf and I became annoyed enough to put it all up. It really makes a difference! It just feels so much more style and less cluttered (even though there is still a lot on the shelf). Switching the black frames with the gold frames made a big difference as well. I just think the black is a bit harsh (which is funny since I have a lot of espresso colored furniture).

Everything else is pretty much the same with an addition or two here and there. I styled the shelving in my kitchen in a way I love. I washed my shower curtain and it's no longer wrinkled. My plants are flourishing (mostly). It's really become a space I enjoying existing.

The world makes you think that everything must happen right now (and I'm guilty of thinking this way as well). I personally blame Amazon Prime's two-day shipping... Building out your dream space doesn't have to and maybe shouldn't happen all at once. Take your time! Your style will change, new pieces will catch your eye, trends fade. Take the time to find pieces that are special and in your budget. Your decor should have meaning and bring you joy. And it doesn't always need to be new! My favorite pieces are thrifted or handed down from family or friends. It's okay if it takes years for your home to feel "done". And honestly, it will probably never feel done. To me, that means you're doing it right!
