What I Read in September

September was a slow reading month. Pushing through the Harry Potter series was my biggest task. I really wanted to add the last book into this list, however, I actually finished in on October 1st (and in the morning, before noon!). Alas. Those seven books in two months is pretty great though! I'm excited to get back to my TBR pile. I feel like I have some real gems in there. Especially for October.

As the weather cools and it gets darker early, I'll probably hunker down a bit more to read. I am still hoping to listen to a few more books on my walks. I am going to see how long I can go before it gets too cold. It is definitely reading season and I am here for it! Currently, I am at 53 books of 62 for the year.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling

The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff

This was an interesting read. We chose it for book club this month and it was good. I enjoyed how it was written. It was about a group of women in an Indian village who came together to basically overtake their oppressors (their husbands). The dynamic of the women was a bit strange, but also shows how much everything really comes from your own perception of... well everything and not what is actually happening. I enjoyed the history of it and learning about a different culture, but feel like I would have gotten more out of it had I come in with more knowledge.

Becoming by Michelle Obama

This has been in my audio library for absolute ages (years!). It was a bit daunting because it's such a long listen, but I've gotten through everything else and was in a headspace that I could take the time (on my walks) to listen. So amazing. Michelle Obama is an extraordinary woman and it was really cool to hear her talk about her early life and life in the White House. Another book I highly recommend you listen to as she narrates and it's just so beautiful.
