King's Island Through a Disposable Lens

I'm adding these images here because, well, I just adore them. I haven't used a disposable camera in the longest time. I had bought two a year ago and had just never gotten around to using them. The trip to King's Island, in my mind, was the perfect place to whip them out.

Honestly, it was a little annoying to me and the person taking the photo to use the disposable. Some of these images were replicated on an iPhone, but a lot are originals. I tried to make sure it wasn't a shot that needed to happen too quickly. And obviously, each only required one click. To unlock memories, I even let the photographer slide through to the next piece of film.

I've been feeling a need to get back to the way people shot on film when my parents were young. The photos we take now are so staged. And, I love that, I truly do. I love my aesthetic photos of myself and my friends. I don't mind having basically twenty of the same photo on my phone and only finding one "useable" option. But when I look at images of my parents and their friends when they were in their twenties and thirties, it's just so... real. They're standing around hanging out. Most of the time they aren't looking at the camera. If they are, half of the people have their eyes closed or are mid laugh (a real laugh). The double chins, the squinty eyes, the flash - all of these things are what make me love these types of images.

I mentioned this in the Instagram post, but I think we look a little more carefree and alive in these images. Just having a blast and not doing it for the 'gram. Even though, we still totally were.
