Summer's Last Stand

As any other "basic" girl will tell you, sunflower fields are the best! Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers and they do photograph so beautifully. Typically, one would think of sunflowers as happy and bright, but I also love them because they're a little sad. The bright yellow color matches well with their heads bowed down and yearning to reach for the sun. A magical flower, basically.

Tuttle Orchards still has three days left for their sunflower trail tours! Today, Monday, and Tuesday. They're open from 9 am to 6 pm, so if you haven't already, get on over there! I love how they set up the trail this year. Right before you hit the trail, there is a blocked off area where you can cut your own flowers. Last year, you cut them on the trail. With this new area, you can walk around the trail and experience the loveliness without a bunch of beheaded stalks. Don't forget to stop into the shop for an apple cider and apple doughnut! Hello, fall.

This dress is basically sold out, but there are plenty of look-a-likes floating around. I knew I wanted to wear something that contrasted with the green and yellow and that color was definitely red. Green and red marry so well, but since they're considered "holiday" colors, you don't see it much. It's a shame! Let's bring back red and green for every season! Wrap dresses have been a go to staple for the summer and I'm looking forward to styling them in the fall. I'm wearing an XS in this dress and it is still a little large, but I always feel like wrap dresses run a bit large. I'm also wearing kids shoes here.
