Returning to Fitness

The first quarter of the year, I was very into my fitness routine and really seeing results. Then, our cruise happened. I had brought fitness wear onto the cruise ship assuming I would continue my work outs. That did not happen. And that week ruined the habits that I had created. After returning home, I fell out of working out and lost everything I worked hard to gain. As it typically goes, I became frustrated with my lack of motivation and with what was happening to my body (I'm not getting any younger!). I realized that for this next go to really work, I would need to change my habits.

I love working out in the mornings. Starting my day sloughing off the "ick" and a cleansing shower is ideal. Waking up earlier; however, is not something I love. I knew, though, for this to work I would need to work out in the mornings. So, I "sleep trained" myself to get up earlier. I started getting up at 6:45 am instead of 7 am (or more realistically, 7:30 am). Then 6:30 am, 6:15 am, and finally getting up at 6 am to start my work outs. I've completed my first week and I'm feeling great (a little sore though)!. If you're interested, I'm doing the BBG program by Kayla Itsines mixed with Zumba classes at a local gym called Fitness in Motion. I'm hoping to start running as well.

Other than being healthier and looking better, the one thing that really motivates me to work out is a great fitness outfit. I've typically been wearing leggings, but I was drawn to the work out skirt/skort. I love working out in a skirt (it has attached shorts). Not only do I feel cute and fun, I feel like I can really move. Doing Zumba in a flowy skirt like the one I'm wearing is such a great feeling.

What motivates you to work out?
