How to Wear Your Summer Florals in Winter

If you are anything like me, you are constantly trying to figure out how you can wear your summer clothes in the winter and your winter clothes in the summer. Why can't it be autumn all year long? This year it is all about the floral print. We all know "Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking." However, florals in winter can be that breath of fresh air we need. The gloomy skies mixed with the graying landscapes can really bring a person down. A colorful floral print can really brighten up the day. Here are just a few ways to make those summery dresses and prints work for your winter wardrobe.

For those lazy, lounging days pop on a sweater. I like a lot of color, so I pulled a lighter blue from the sweater to enhance. If you prefer a more subtle look, try a darker layer or pant.

Maybe you are meeting the girls for brunch and you don't want to be overdressed, but you don't want to wear pants. A long sleeve shirt underneath a tank dress (or any dress) adds layers for warmth and is a great update for a tired wardrobe. Just keep piling on the layers to showcase your favorite floral prints, whether you choose a long sleeve shirt, sweater, cardigan, or blazer.

Add colors in the same temperature as your floral print to amp it up. The navy and purple I added really brings out the colors in the dress without making it look summery.

Want to wear your favorite florals to work? Zip on a pencil skirt and add a chunky knit to winterize the floral print. Wearing an oversized sweater with your florals makes for a cozy outfit that won't make you feel glum.

How do you like to wear your favorite floral print in the winter? I would love to see your ideas! These tips are not only good for floral prints, but also any favorite summer item. Have a strappy dress you just really want to wear? Add the layers! There should be no reason we can't wear something just because it was "meant" for a particular season.
