Resveratrol: From Face to Hair

There are products that we may only trust to have one duty (like our underwear), but when it comes to skin and hair care, why can’t our products work both ways? The answer is the anti-aging ingredient, resveratrol. Resveratrol is a relatively new addition to skin-care products, but it has already created quite the stir. It is a plant polyphenol found in the skin of red grapes (but sorry darlings, there is very little found in red wine). The reason it is used in our beauty products? It is said the polyphenol has anti-aging and anti-inflammatory effects. Research shows that resveratrol does protect against UV and free radical damage. This in turn improves the skin tone and reduces wrinkles and discoloration.

I can see your puzzled expressions. And how is this helping my hair? Just as it does for the skin, resveratrol helps protect free radical damage to the hair. And even better, the super fabulous ingredient stimulates cell regeneration. It helps feed new cells that are growing at the root to keep the follicle robust which in turn establishes the base for healthy hair. Put down those Biotin pills, chèrs (okay maybe not, our keratin still needs saving) and pick up a product with resveratrol in it as well.

Don’t worry, I am going to tell you the product. David Evangelista added resveratrol to his product line because “Resveratrol rebalances the scalps pH levels and reverses damage caused by environmental aggressors. It absorbs wonderfully into the cuticle to make hair shinier and stronger.” His Daily Hydrating Conditioner contains the ingredient and is only $21.

This is not the last we have seen of resveratrol, I am sure of it. A search for products containing the polyphenol reveals there is a lot more to it. As research continues there will be further findings will hopefully provide more uses for anti-aging than just for skin and hair.
