Kings Island Halloween Haunt 2024

Another Halloween Haunt in the books! I love theme parks who go the extra mile during the holidays, especially during Halloween. The theme just gets theme-ier. Kings Island, as you may or may not know, is one of my favorite parks to go to because 1) it's only about a 2 hour drive from me and 2) it's perfect for a day trip. We went earlier this year in the summer and had a blast. This trip was a little different and so much fun, but I learned a lot.

Things I loved:

- The decorations. I feel like the Haunt just keeps getting better and better with decorations. I didn't get a lot of photos, unfortunately, but they were really cool to see during the day and amazing at night when the Haunt was actually going on. The fog in specific haunted areas was great.

- The beverages. While I didn't feel intoxicated at all by the multitude of alcoholic beverages I had, they were amazing. My favorite was the "blood bag" beverages. They were basically adult juices. We also had a frozen margarita in a very tall (plastic) glass.

- The people watching. This doesn't need explained.

- Riding the Beast at night. Even though we waited in line for two hours... this was amazing and is amazing every time. The perfect spooky ending to the visit.

- The company. Obviously.

- Wandering around.

Things I learned:

- Get the Fast Lane passes and probably the Fright Lane passes. During our summer visit, we got Fast Lane passes and everything was a breeze. Wait times were very minimal and we got to ride a lot of rides twice. I honestly didn't think it would be SO busy. We did a lot of line waiting, which I thought I wouldn't mind, but the line waiting made me feel like I was missing things happening in the park. This, unfortunately, adds a lot to your cost. We're thinking of breaking this trip into two days next year to make sure we can see and do all the things we want.

- If a line is long, get something to drink and eat while you wait. This isn't something that I would normally do, but it definitely helped with longer wait times.

- Have your Haunted Houses picked out beforehand. I really didn't know which houses I wanted to hit, just that I wanted to go through at least 2. I feel like we could have done better if we had researched them a little beforehand.

- The ride lines are NOT shorter just because the Haunted Houses are up and running. Whoops.

- Go later in the season. If it's chillier, less people will probably be there.

- Take your time. This is part of reason why we want to break it up into two days next year. Things felt a bit rushed.

- Just because you know someone is about to jump out at you doesn't mean you won't scream.

All in all we had a lot of fun, but we're already excited for next year as we will be a little more prepared. I would also like a trip to Universal for their Horror Nights very soon!
