I finished 2023 with 68 books. My goal was to read 62 books and I nailed it! Some months were slower than others. I definitely finished the year in a slump, but that is just life. I cleared out a lot of my old TBR list from years back in not only physical books, but audiobooks. It felt so nice to get those off my shelf and onto my... well... shelf.
I did listen to quite a few audiobooks this year. I listened to 17 audiobooks! I took a lot of walks with Oswin and really enjoyed it. There's a lot of talk about how audiobooks don't count as reading, but I think that's utter bullshit. Any way a person can consume a book is reading. Audiobooks have not only helped me make some of my more elaborate reading goals, but they've also opened up a few new genres to me. There are some books I would find not entertaining enough or too daunting to sit and read, but listening to them (on 1.5x speed) is perfect. Don't listen to people who say it doesn't count, you do you beautiful.
For 2024, my goal is to read 69 books. One more than what I read in 2023 and because I really enjoy that number. I'm hoping to listen to more audiobooks and read more romcoms. I'd also like to dabble more into the thrillers and spooky books. Really, I just want to enjoy what I'm reading and enjoy the time spent reading. Sometimes it feels like a chore and that's when I go through slumps. I'm also looking forward to continue going through my "to read" list on Goodreads and choose some of the options I saved a long time ago.
Happy reading everyone!
