Another Mansfield Covered Bridge Festival in the books. I go every year with grandmother and it's such a fun day. It's definitely changed over the years, more wholesale and less homemade. But it's still a great time to hangout with my grandma off the grid (which is no longer off the grid, they've added cell towers since last year).
While I do a little bit of shopping (hello, crystals), I am mainly here for the food and foliage. Last year, everything was rather yellow, but it was still fairly green this year. I did eat all my favorite things, including the pumpkin ice cream. I did receive some crazy looks. I get it, gloves and ice cream don't really go together, but I would argue that it's actually quite nice because you don't have to worry about your ice cream melting all over you. My favorite meal is the chicken and noodle soup over potatoes - you must have this. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the cheese fries, but I was getting rather full.
I hope to continue doing this with my grandma for a long time and to share it with as many people as possible - we love having friends and family come along for the journey. It’s too good to not share.
