The thing about me? I love a theme park and I love King's Island. I've been screaming my way through this park since I was a wee child. It's changed a lot over the years, but it's also stayed exactly the same. I think it's difficult "keeping up with the times" while still holding onto the nostalgic feeling of a place. The ownership change that changed it from Paramount's King's Island to just King's Island was the biggest. I miss the film names and themes and I miss Hanna Barbara Land, but I've also grown to love Snoopy Land. I've been here with friends, family, and lovers and it never gets old. I've ridden The Beast a hundred times and maybe my head pounds a little more each year, but I'll never stop. I remember my first time riding the backwards Racer and knowing that's the only way I wanted to ride it (I was incredibly sad when they changed both tracks to forward facing cars). I did get to ride King Cobra and Son of Beast before they tore them down. I've ridden Flight of Fear with the lights on. I'll always eat blue ice cream no matter how full I am. It's a special place that I'll always return to as often as I can.
My theme park outfits are not usually what most people would wear, however, I find them incredibly comfortable and easy. A nice cotton dress (or top and skirt option) keeps you cool and dries off very quickly if you happen to ride White Water Canyon (see below). I loved this one because it was thin and had an open back. If I'm walking all day, I'll typically go for a sneaker, but it was stupidly hot this day. Padded sandals are the best way to go, in my opinion (temperature really plays into this decision). The only problem I had was a little bit of chub rub the last hour of the day. It wasn't as hot, so I wasn't sweating enough and we had just ridden White Water Canyon for the second time. If you have room in your bag, I'd recommend a chub rub product or just wear some shorts.
I'm hoping I might make another return this year for the Halloween Haunt. It's definitely a different experience and so much fun. Might I recommend riding The Beast at night?
