Walk, Walk, Walk

Walking outside, on the regular, makes me a better person. That sounds a bit dramatic, but it's honestly true. A mixture of fresh air, exercise, sunshine, and sometimes friendly company makes the biggest difference. When I'm not able to get outside, I can feel myself slide deeper and deeper into myself. I live inside my head anyway, but when I can't get outside and ground, it's exacerbated. I know this isn't some groundbreaking discovery, but it's easy to forget when life becomes chaotic and busy.

Since Oswin was recently neutered, we had to take it easy for awhile. We were doing about 3 miles every day (depending on weather). We were out a lot. I felt so happy with everything and it definitely felt like things couldn't hit me as hard. But it's been almost two weeks of no walks (except for potty breaks and we did one 3-mile walk over the past weekend) and I can feel it. A lot of staring at walls and doom scrolling. The weather is starting to stick to a warmer temperature and Oswin is all healed so if you're around my area, you'll probably see me out and about often.

If you're feeling a bit blah or down, get outside. Even if you just stand in the grass barefoot for 10 minutes and breathe. Keep doing it day after day. Maybe it won't fix all your problems, but maybe your spirit will lift just a little and it'll be easier to deal with them. If you're around and need a walking buddy, just let me know!
