I have always been serious about caring for my hair, but in the past two years I have really stepped up my hair game. I am incredibly lucky that I inherited fantastic hair genes and have always had hair that is mostly easy to manage. That being said, going through stress and turning 30 made my hair change in ways I have never experienced. While this is certainly natural and can/will happen to everyone - I wanted to make sure I was doing what I could to keep my hair happy and healthy. About two years ago, I noticed my hair seemed to be falling out more than usual. Already aware that a lot of hair typically falls out of my head, I was still shocked by the amount, especially during a shower. I knew my diet was probably affecting my hair, skin, and nails so I made sure I was eating a daily vitamin with Biotin. Using just Biotin vitamins actually overproduces in my body, so the multi-vitamin works better for me - I would test it out if you're having issues! I almost immediately started noticing my nails were growing more quickly and were much stronger, but didn't notice a huge decrease in the hair fallout.

The multi-vitamin was working (I use Olly and love it), but I needed something more. After talking with my hair stylist, who didn't notice any bald or weird spots on my head, I started looking into a hair care system. A few are out right now that I think all have merit, but I chose Prose. I'm working on a budget and while it's not the most inexpensive, it's not bank breaking. I was initially drawn to Prose because they create your formula based on just more than your hair type. They take into account where you live - air and water quality. In my package I have a shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, and hair oil. I know, adding oil to your hair seems counter productive and I was slightly skeptical as well, but it might be my favorite product. I have extremely frizzy and dry hair and it's really helped tame it a bit more. After using this system for a few months, I was starting to notice a difference in hair fallout. I knew I still needed something more though. Vegamour was showing up in my ads on Instagram and Facebook. It's being touted as a miracle product, but I know better than to think one product will fix everything. Honestly, I was a bit desperate at this point. And after reading most of their reviews, I decided to take the plunge. If it didn't work, it didn't work. But it did!
I'm only using the Vegamour scalp oil, but they do have other products that may or may not be helpful. Is this a miracle product? No. Is it a helpful product? Yes. Do I think you need to buy this specific product to get results? No. My scalp is extremely dry and occasionally flaky (I do keep a backup of Head & Shoulders at the ready). In my opinion, adding the scalp oil created a better environment to help my hair grow and prevent breakage. By massaging the oil into my scalp every morning, I'm doing two things I honestly never did - adding moisture to my scalp (instead of just my ends) and massaging the hair follicles on the top of my head. Stimulating the hair follicles helps increase hair growth and produces thicker hair - it's especially important on the top of the head (this is why you notice more baldness at the top).

I still have hair fallout and sometimes it's more than I would care to admit, but I do believe I've found my system! I don't think I'll continue using Vegamour, but switch to The Ordinary for the hair scalp. It's a bit cheaper and people have said it's a very similar product. There's nothing wrong with Vegamour, but it is a little too expensive for me. I've noticed not only a difference in fallout, but scalp and end health. I had taken some before photos of my scalp, but quite frankly, you could not see a difference. The difference is in how my hair feels. If you're looking to update your hair care, start with diet/vitamins and find a system that works for you! You can do it, but don't forget it will take time.
