Lately, I have been trying to purchase staple closet items. Those items that can and should last forever. Those items that go with everything. Basics. I'm trying to fill my wardrobe with more basics.
I have never been that in to trends, but I love prints. My problem, however, is I buy prints in my tops and bottoms without truly considering if I will be able to create outfits with those pieces. What has happened is I have a lot of fabulous printed tops that don't go with any of my amazingly printed bottoms.
I looked to Instagram for inspiration. Daphne, from Mode and the City, does classic style so well (and probably the best). I saw this photo on her Instagram and knew I had to recreate it with pieces from my closet. This is the perfect work outfit. A black pencil skirt with a white button up and a sweater? Yes, please! The ruffled collar and the scarf on the bag brings more fun to the outfit. If only I had a striped trench!
