Closet Clean Out: Part Un

Have you ever stood looking at your wardrobe thinking "I have absolutely nothing to wear" while seemingly hundreds of options are staring you in the face? I would not be shocked in the slightest bit if you are nodding your head at the moment. Occasionally there are mornings in which the endless amounts of options are just not quite what you want... or need.

Never has this thought been more prevalent in my mind then this past week. I have been told by numerous people (most often this comes from my boyfriend with whom I share the closet) that I own too many clothes. When this is brought to my attention I never answer, "Well of course I do not." Generally, I shrug and laugh. Sometimes I grimace and nod and start throwing things into a garbage bag to donate. This time around I am going to try something completely different.

I do tend to get around to most of my wardrobe pieces eventually. But I know there are items that get pushed to the back or lost in the ever growing closet of mine. Hilary Rushford from Dean Street Society wrote, "Did you know most of us wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time? Well, when left to our own devices that is." She wrote that in lieu of a style challenge. And I believe it is 100% correct. I have my favorite pieces and try to branch out, but sometimes you just get stuck wearing the same things.

I am going to start my own challenge. For myself. If you want to play along with your wardrobe, please do!

The Rules:

1. Start from the front of your wardrobe.
2. Wear each piece that is presented to you. Try to include pieces that you have not tried together.
3. If you do not want to wear a particular piece (weather and work are exceptions), the piece must be removed from your wardrobe. If you are not going to wear it now, you will not wear it again.
4. Rejoice in your "new" closet. You will have dozens more outfits and pieces that you will truly love (again) without having to purchase anything!

I will be documenting my progress on Instagram. Follow me @elledelfine. And I will update you with blogs to rejoice about what I fell in love with again and what I decided to trash. This will be interesting to say the least.

Happy outfitting!
